The Artellmedia method is the first "real time" method to teach visual art. It simplifies teaching, shortens learning time for students to grasp the basics, and deepens comprehension in ways that were not possible before.

Artellmedia for Self Study

With the Artellmedia method of color analysis, much of the "study" and "composition" time is now shifted onto the computer. Artists can advance their technical knowledge of color faster, easier, and better than with traditional methods only. What would normally take months and years to learn, now only takes weeks and months. And for some, it's even less.

Artellmedia for Teaching Theory

The Artellmedia method provides a cost effective way to teach the elements and principles of color theory for painting and other media. Difficult things are simplified in "real time" and easily explained at any level. Nothing matches the effectiveness of this technology as a "cognitive" teaching tool.

Artellmedia with Traditional Methods

The Artellmedia method with the printed color charts is easily incorporated into traditional methods of teaching art in the classroom. It makes it easier for teachers to teach and for students to learn. And what's taught in the art class using this method with color charts is easily applied by students when painting.

And that's what is so exciting about this technology. It does not replace traditional methods of teaching and learning art, it enhances them. It is a means to that end.

Artworks Basic 1.9
FINE ART COMPOSITION SOFTWARE FOR ARTISTS

"I love it!" is the most common phrase stated by our members

Artworks Basic is a “composition” tool for those who work from digital photos. It provides new ways to do some of the old things in composition faster, easier, and better than with traditional ways. And, it is the first software product with an innovative method to help artists improve in matters of color for painting.

Artellmedia takes a fresh new approach to the development of software products for artists. With Artworks Basic, you get more value than "just an innovative, new software tool". You get the software, plus a one year subscription to online updates, a color tutorial, and three printed color charts - a color wheel (gray balanced for the eye), a value scale, and a chroma scale. This product pays for itself.

The Artellmedia Difference

Nothing matches the simplicity and effectiveness of the Artellmedia method for art instruction and composition. This method is founded upon the elements and principles of visual art and provides a comprehensive solution for study, theory, and practice.

What’s New in Artworks Basic 1.9?

The color framework of Artworks Basic 1.9 has been rebuilt with the Gagnon Color System for composition. The four thousand G-Lab 2.0 Colors are derived from this core color system.

The benefit of Gagnon color model is that it is uniquely structured upon "golden mean" proportions and it is gray balanced for digital and real world art.

The Best Software for Making Art

The Artist's Magazine - JULY / AUGUST 2008

Key Features

Three features make this product stand out in the crowd - the real time study tools with grisaille controls, the printed color charts that work with the software, and the canvas window overlay with grids for drawing and composition.

Real Time Color Study

For the first time in the history of art, you can study color effects in digital images in "real time". That means you can study color in the same way that artists see and understand color for composition. This process is revolutionary and timeless! It emulates visual perception for art. It's simple, very effective, and most importantly... artist intuitive.

So what's that mean to you?

It means you have an effective way to analyze the color composition and gain in-depth knowledge of color fast and easy. These tools provide ways to make effective use of your study time. Time is precious no matter what age you are or experience you have.

You can start where you are and grow. Discover what combination of colors make things look the way they do... all while overcoming "tricks-of-the eye". You'll often be surprised. And what's great about these tools is that you can specialize in the color effects that interest you... skies, clouds, trees, mountains, fog, water, pets, portraits, barns, boats, barrels, ... you name it. What makes a "copper" pot look "copper"? What makes "ice" on the pond look like "ice"?... "trees" look like "trees", "water"... "water"? This technology reveals all. The overall composition and every color effect can be analyzed quickly and easily. You control what you want to see and how to see it in real time.

You can also simplify the lighting in your digital image for grisaille techiques. With a click of the mouse, use the special "underlay" toolbar to convert the image into a few shades of gray in "real time". Want five grays? Click "5". Six grays? Click... "6". Eight grays? "8"... and so on. There's nothing like it!

G-Lab™ 2.0 Printed Color Charts

The Artworks Basic software package also comes with three printed color charts - a color wheel, a value scale, a new chroma (intensity) scale. What's important for artists and art teachers to know is that the colors are gray balanced for "real world" art and each chart is reliably printed on acid free paper with light-fast archival inks for long life. Also, each chart is laminated for protection and durability.

Use these charts to interpret screen colors, make color notes, share color notes, plan color compositions, and mix hundreds of colors accurately and with confidence over and over again.

Even without the software, these printed charts alone add considerable value as a reliable reference tool for color composition.

Canvas Window with Grid Overlays

Artworks Basic also comes with special overlay features that help you draw, frame, and compose the non-color things. Use the Canvas Crop Window with the Composition Grid overlay to frame pleasing compositions and the Drawing Grid to help with drawing proportions.

And when you add standard "photo-editing" plus special filters like "painting effects" to the list and look at the price, you have a handy, practical tool that everyone can
afford.
